‘The life and work of Georges de La Tour’ Talk

Georges de La Tour is one of the most enigmatic figures in the history of art. Forgotten for two and a half centuries after his death, he was only rediscovered in 1916. Now, 100 years on, we know around 40 autograph paintings by his hand, which include his celebrated candlelight paintings – works of breathtaking, luminous beauty.

This talk will look at the life and work of Georges de La Tour, putting Preston Park Museum’s striking 'Dice Players' in context.

'The Dice Players' is currently on tour as part of the National Gallery’s ‘Beyond Caravaggio’ exhibition, which can be seen at the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh until 24th September 2017.
