Visiting Preston Park with your dog

Wander through the woodland trails, follow the River Tees or explore the Victorian quarry which has now been reclaimed by nature.

Whether you're local or visiting for the day, Preston Park is a wonderful place to enjoy with your dog.

With wide open spaces, peaceful trails, and a welcoming atmosphere, it's a tail-wagging good time for all.

We provide water bowls at the front of the museum to keep your dog refreshed during your visit.

Picnic spots

Bring a picnic and relax in one of the many open green spaces. There's plenty of room to spread out a blanket and enjoy lunch.  

Drinks and snacks are also available to take away from the café in the park.

Capture the moment

Preston Park is full of picturesque spots, ideal for snapping photos of your pup enjoying the great outdoors. From riverside views to woodland paths, you will find plenty of Instagram-worthy backdrops.

Dos and don'ts

To make sure everyone enjoys their visit, we kindly ask that dog owners follow the rules. 

Dogs are not permitted in the: 

  • museum
  • gardens
  • cafes
  • adventure play area
  • skate park

Please keep dogs on a short lead in busy areas of the park and in the Quarry Woods Nature Reserve. 

Always clean up after your dog. Bins are available throughout the park.
