Covid 19 and Us

Stockton’s Story

Collecting objects and stories which reflect significant events is an important part of our role as a museum. Covid-19 has had a huge impact on all of our daily lives and we believe it is important that future generations can look back and understand how the people of Stockton lived through this challenging time.

We would like to start adding your experiences to our permanent collections. To begin with, this will be done digitally. Then, when the museum reopens and it is safe to do so, we will arrange for physical objects to be donated. Things you could donate might include:

  • Local newspapers
  • Information leaflets and pamphlets
  • Letters, cards and presents
  • Journals and scrapbooks
  • Photographs
  • Examples of acts of kindness
  • Signage
  • Sanitising equipment and homemade masks
  • Arts and crafts made whilst in isolation
  • Rainbows and key worker thank yous

Although we are unable to accept all donations due to limited storage, we do hope to share your contributions by showcasing the objects and stories we have collected in a future display at the museum.

Please complete the below form including a photograph of your object and a story about why you would like to donate it to the museum. We understand and respect that some stories are currently too raw to document and that a period of reflection is needed.

Unfortunately we are unable to respond to every request due to the volume we expect to receive.
