Festive Tales with Father Christmas
Join us for a special festive storytelling session with Father Christmas, set in the beautiful surroundings of the Music Room at Preston Park Museum.
Children can gather around the fireplace to hear a festive story read by Father Christmas himself, before receiving a special gift to take home. Families can also explore the museum after hours as part of this magical evening experience.
What to expect
- the interactive story time session will last about 45 minutes
- each paying child will be invited to meet Father Christmas and receive a gift to take home
- as part of your visit, you can explore the museum galleries, Victorian Street and The Hall
- enjoy festive music, admire traditional garlands and wreaths, and make magical reindeer food to help guide the reindeer on Christmas Eve. Don't forget to visit Victorian sweet shop, dress up in period costume, and capture the moment in our vintage photography studio
- families can also follow the 12 Days of Christmas Trail to uncover hidden surprises throughout the museum
wander through captivating exhibitions, enjoy late-night shopping for unique gifts and stocking fillers in the new gift shop, and indulge in festive treats from The Spence Café.
This Christmas marks our first festive season since completing a multi-million-pound transformation — including the opening of the stunning new The Spence Building — and we're delighted to welcome you back.
Event date and timings
Festive Tales with Father Christmas will last about 45 minutes. Sessions will take place on Thursday 11 and 18 December, at the following times:
- 4.30 to 5.15pm
- 5.30 to 6.15pm
- 6.30 to 7.15pm
You can explore the museum before or after you session. The museum will close at 8pm.

- tickets must be pre-booked
- under 1s can attend for free, but only chrildren with paid tickets will receive a gift
please note that all members of your party will need a valid annual or day Museum Pass for your visit. We recommend buying your pass online to save time when you arrive. If you already have a museum pass, please bring it with you.
